Chrome has been around for what feels like a long time. It has managed to capture a large chunk of mindshare from the technorati since its launch in September 2008, and according to StatCounter , it has surpassed Firefox Global usage for the first time, ever.
StatCounter says it uses actual browser usage as its metric, not number of downloads, so its numbers are indicative of real world use. According to the firm’s stats, Chrome currently sits at 25.69% global browser market share, and Firefox has dipped to 25.23%. Of course both browser still trail the still dominant Internet Explorer which is holding the top spot at 40.63%.
